The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Wrong Critical Role Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at several agonizing personal histories for characters including Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that something was lost in the music selection.

The intro employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition created by artist the talented musician. This piece from the official score of the same name, the second one released by the production company's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I believe that devotees of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the show's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have some changes and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its opening appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or want a head start to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are accessible on Spotify and YouTube.
