🔗 Share this article The Game UN:Me: A Psychological Horror Merging Survival Horror and Among Us Mechanics The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled several intriguing upcoming titles, but one in particular has seized the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience appears to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill game with the suspicion-driven heart of Among Us. "It's a distinctive game where a girl harboring several personalities within her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the mind," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Consciousness In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of teenage years. Inside her exist four separate souls, all possessing unique fears and motivations. These entities can take over at will, releasing their deep-seated phobias upon her without warning. Based on revealed gameplay, much of the narrative takes place within a eerie medical facility, though additional clips show the main character exploring a abandoned chapel. An Environment of Personal Dread "What are you fearful of? What causes you uncomfortable?" asks creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. Authority figures. Elements that seem trivial to other people can activate something primal within us. This game delves into that idea — fears that are unique to every individual." The central mechanic revolves around managing whichever soul emerges at any given time. However, these souls will change against your will as you play. While exploring, each soul's fears become amplified and attack the girl one after another. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player experiences. Eerie Visuals and a Fatal Choice At first glance, UN:Me displays noticeable visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is populated by nurses all sporting the same face, with unnervingly wide smiles. Patients in the waiting room have large flowers growing from their heads are. Flowers are an ever-present element, contrasting natural beauty with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me presents a singular twist. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four entities haunting the protagonist is the "real" one. "Each of the personas asserts that the physical form belongs to them," notes a creator. "Throughout the game, you must determine who is real." After a player have deduced a persona is an impostor, they are forced to destroy it. But, since every entity can deceive or hide the reality, it is incredibly simple to make a mistake. "Maybe you've already destroyed the real [soul] with your own hands," a voice states. "The last one standing could be a fraud. In any case, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me currently lacks a publicly announced release date, but it is available to wishlist on digital storefronts.
