Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
